In my experience, the forums produced information through the initial sharing of public keys for Mujahideen Secrets that led to three layers of penetration that took nearly four months. This included multiple encrypted discussions held outside the forums as my persona was passed from one contact to another. Each contact more cautious than the previous. Each contact deeper into the den of the jihadists. The interactions themselves revealed data points and nuances not harvested but for the forums.
