Word, of the release of FreeBSD version 9.0, has come to my attention over the week-end. Thankfully so, as the timeliness of the news coupled with todays’ MLK Holiday certainly allows for the first installs [without significant impact] in our environs, as it were.
Fundamental, and highly desirable, additions to the OS (for me, at least) are comprised of USB 3.0 support, and the TRIM command subsystem for enhanced performance characteristics when utilized with SSD storage on the server platforms; of course, there are many documented enhancements, modifications and changes, evidenced by the Release Notes. Outstanding I say!
